The design stage of the product is the a) designing of the circuits b) selection of components for durability for specific time in hours at specific real world temperatures . For example , ( please refer to page nos. 3,4,5,6 of the RITES compliance reports) in the Insulation resistance test , the specified value {between earth and current carrying part shorted together shall not be less than 2Mohms} and the observed value { Found more than 100 Mohms in all the samples}.

The BIS standards are similar to RDSO standards. RDSO means the Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO), Hindi: ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿) is an ISO 9001 research and development organisation under the Ministry of Railways of India, which functions as a technical adviser and consultant to the Railway Board, the Zonal Railways, the Railway Production Units, RITES and IRCON International in respect of design and standardization of railway equipment and problems related to railway construction, operation and maintenance.
